Role Description

The main role of a System and Network Administrator is to deploy, configure, and maintain an organization’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and storage. They ensure system reliability, security, and high performance across all services. They monitor and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and optimize resources. They also implement security measures to protect data and systems. Finally, they collaborate with IT, security, and support teams to guarantee business continuity

Missions 

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain servers, networks, and IT infrastructure.
  • Monitor performance, detect issues, and troubleshoot failures.
  • Ensure system and network security through preventive measures.
  • Optimize resources to guarantee reliability and high availability.
  • Collaborate with IT, security, and support teams to ensure continuity.

Tasks

  • Configure and maintain switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Monitor network traffic, performance, and usage trends using diagnostic tools.
  • Respond to network incidents and service disruptions; implement corrective actions.
  • Configure VPNs, VLANs, QoS, NAT, and routing protocols.
  • Perform firmware updates and patching of network equipment.
  • Conduct regular network assessments and vulnerability scans.
  • Maintain documentation of network topology, IP schemas, and equipment inventory.
  • Coordinate with ISPs and external vendors for troubleshooting and upgrades.
  • Administer and maintain physical and virtual servers to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Monitor system health, security, and usage across the IT infrastructure.
  • Support system upgrades, patches, and backup operations.
  • Contribute to infrastructure projects, automation, and documentation.
  • Tasks
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers.
  • Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file services, and GPOs.
  • Administer virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox).
  • Maintain backup systems and perform disaster recovery testing.
  • Monitor infrastructure using tools such as Zabbix, PRTG, or Nagios.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure and hybrid environments (e.g., Azure, AWS).
  • Automate tasks using scripting tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
  • Collaborate with security teams to enforce hardening and patch compliance.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).
  • Experience with firewalls and network security tools (e.g., FortiGate).
  • Familiarity with network monitoring systems (e.g., PRTG, Zabbix, SolarWinds).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and analyze performance using tools like Wireshark.
  • Understanding of wired and wireless technologies and enterprise architectures.
  • Basic scripting for network automation is a plus (e.g., Python, Ansible).
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux administration.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox).
  • Proficiency in identity management (Active Directory, LDAP, SSO).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of backup tools (Veeam, etc.) and disaster recovery planning.
  • Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash) and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform).
  • Monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Zabbix, PRTG, Nagios).

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Networking, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience managing enterprise networks.
  • 3–5 years of experience in Windows and/or Linux server administration.
  • Technical certifications are highly valued
  • System: Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE), Linux (RHCSA/RHCE), VMware (VCP).
  • Network: Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), CompTIA Network+, Fortinet, Palo Alto.
