Role Description

The SAP FICO Techno-Functional Expert plays a strategic and hands-on role, serving as the key bridge between the Finance, Accounting, and Controlling business units and SAP’s technical capabilities. Operating in an SAP ECC environment and preparing for a migration to S/4HANA, this role is critical in providing expert support, driving process improvements, and ensuring system readiness for the transition. The expert possesses deep knowledge of the FI and CO modules, with proven ability to specify and collaborate on ABAP developments.

Missions 

• Act as the primary liaison between Finance, Accounting, and Controlling business users and SAP technical teams for functional and technical requirements.
• Support ECC operations while preparing data, processes, and custom developments for S/4HANA readiness.
• Analyze, design, and implement cross-functional solutions in coordination with developers and functional consultants.
• Contribute to the planning and execution of the S/4HANA migration project.

Tasks

1. Expert Support & Business Partnership:

• Serve as the central point of contact and expert-level support for Accounting, Finance, and Controlling teams.
• Investigate and resolve complex incidents and user requests related to FICO processes, ensuring operational continuity.

2. Process Evolution & Continuous Improvement:

• Work hand-in-hand with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement in financial and controlling processes.
• Design, configure, and deploy innovative SAP FICO solutions and enhancements to meet new business requirements and increase efficiency.

3. SAP System Optimization & Enablement:

• Promote and provide training on best practices for the optimal and standardized use of FI and CO modules by end-users.
• Develop and enhance reporting and analytics tools (standard reports, custom reports, Fiori apps) to provide accurate, real-time insights into financial performance.

4. S/4HANA Project & Migration:

• Play an active role in the S/4HANA transformation by supporting business teams in adapting their processes and ensuring the preparation and migration of FICO data.
• Contribute to modernizing the ecosystem by facilitating the adoption of new S/4HANA technologies (e.g., Fiori) by finance teams.

5. Techno-Functional Bridging & Development:

• Translate business needs into technical solutions by writing detailed specifications for required ABAP developments (reports, interfaces, enhancements) and overseeing their realization.
• Ensure the consistency and performance of custom developments through close collaboration with ABAP developers, including code review and debugging.

Technical Skills

   –SAP FICO Functional Expertise:

• In-depth knowledge of SAP FI (GL, AP, AR, AA, New GL) and SAP CO (CCA, PCA, CO-PA, Internal Orders).
• Strong understanding of key integrations with MM (Inventory Accounting, Invoice Verification) and SD (Revenue Recognition, Customer Invoicing).
• Experience with S/4HANA Finance concepts: Universal Journal (ACDOCA), Account-Based CO-PA, Migration Cockpit, and Fiori apps.

  -Techno-Functional & ABAP Skills:

• ABAP for FICO: Strong ability to debug ABAP code, write detailed functional specifications for developments, and collaborate effectively with developers.
• Hands-on experience with SAP technical concepts: BAdIs, User Exits, IDocs, BAPIs specific to FICO processes.
• Experience in assessing custom code for S/4HANA readiness (Custom Code Analysis).

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on SAP ECC experience with functional and technical knowledge.
